The Trip

"Sing about love," said the old African sorcerer pouring a dark liquid into two clay mugs. "You are too political - politics divides people, love brings people together". He always spoke in short sentences that carried maximum meanings. "The word Politics," he continued, handing me a mug "is made of two words, poly and ticks," then blew into his mug three times as if cooling the liquid before taking a long slow sip. "Many - blood suckers" then again he blew three times into his mug. It was a strange thing to do, because the liquid in the cup wasn't hot at all. "Yea, you gotta sing about love" he said, now gazing into the mug, lost in his thoughts ...

Twilight Sutra is a science fiction love story. A rock record blending ancient elements of Celtic, Viking and African music, composed in collaboration with modern ballet dancers conjured up in Robb's mind. By allowing these mental dancers to revel in their expressions and choreography, Robb would then compose a music to accompany the movements of his mental-dancer.

Twilight Sutra has also been constructed in the way Lou Harrison the great American composer would, to provide “musical kits” - i.e clusters of musical ideas that can be re-combined in countless different ways depending on what the choreography requires. - If all goes well 3rd Ear Experience intends to one day perform Twilight Sutra live in the world's first ever Space Rock Ballet.

Twilight Sutra includes a list of great players who have made the hi desert their home and have played with us over the 20 years we have lived in the desert. We are extremely grateful for their support and the exquisite relations we shared over the light years. Twilight Sutra is what it is because of their musical contributions. Dr. Space, of Oresund Space Collective appears again, - as Robb would say "dropping colors in the air and writing sweet words on water."

The Road

The California desert based psychedelic rock band 3rd Ear Experience will release their next album "The Twilight Sutra" on Space Rock Productions.

The story is based on the core of eastern and alchemical philosophies - the union of shiva with shakti - the alchemical wedding, the union of consciouness with super consciousness, union of I and Thou, the finite with the infinite and all kinds of ideas regarding the reconciliation of opposites etc., hence the word Twilight, which is the point of union between night and day, darkness and light.

All of which is love or as it would be in mathematics (-1)+(+1) = 0.

Twilight Sutra recorded at Star Lane studios in the Mojave Desert over a period of 15 light-years. It's a sci-fi story. The tale of a Viking boy and a Celtic priestess living on parallel universes, often sit at the same tree, by the pond, but cannot see each other. At first they begin to merge - subtly, sharing thoughts in dream sounds. Unbeknown to them on a cosmic level - at the same time, their parallel universes are merging, causing a twilight of astronomical proportions.

The Music - 'The Twilight Sutra' is a rock record blending ancient Celtic, Viking and African music, was composed and arranged in collaboration with modern/ballet dancers conjured up in mind, on the dream plane. Robb would mentally build a dancer from the material of dream stuff, and then allow the dancer to dance across his minds sky, to reveal the choreography. Then he would arrange a piece of music to accompany the flow and movement of the astral dancer. This little process would happen multiple times per each piece of music. This album includes a list of a great players who have made the hi desert their home and have played with us over the 20 years we have lived in the desert.

We are extremely grateful for their love and support in the exquisite relations we shared over the light years. Twilight Sutra is what it is because of their magical voices. Dr Space (Øresund Space Collective) appears again, dropping colors in the air and writing sweet words on water.
