"when i first started signing autographs i had by then already developed a theory or a belief that a song wasn't completed until it had reached the shore in the listeners heart ... only then was it written ... so when some one asked me to sign my autograph, i felt that i needed to convey to that person some how in the simplest of ways that they were an integral part of the life of the song in as much as i was ... we were both the stars ... so i began signing with the word "shine" ... this also reminded me every time i signed one that every man and every woman is a star, and our only duty as stars is to shine ...
