The Song 'Hold On'
"the guitar part is based on 'kwela', a style of music that is played by the black folk back home. there were times when you would see a black guy walking and playing the same riff over and over in time with his footsteps. this mode of transportation was very effective and carried him for miles!!!
so you see, the music is a type of walking music, which supports the lyrical content and sets up the idea that 'I am on my way' so to speak. i am telling my love to 'hold on' and the music, the walking music of the kwela style, is saying 'I'm coming'"
