Going Back To South Africa

"sometimes i think that it is impossible to leave ones mother country especially a place like africa, but that what really happens is - it is the blood of the mother that extends itself out into the world and we as individuals are chosen to be her vehicles, though our personal hearts might long for the closeness of the roots ... it is as if through me all the people i come in contact with are influenced to return to a closer truth and that truth is the wind of the mother africa that permeates my body and my music ... it's not me but her ancient wind and the african sun that fills my gifts with incense ... made of blue gums and rare scents, kakhi bos, boerewors, durban poisen, wild youth, black mountains, karoo sunsets, athol fugard ... sometimes i tell my friends that the moon in california looks like a lemon looking for a tequila in an african sky ... perhaps i was talking about myself ...

... it is true the longing to return has never left me and this is not the same as a longing to 'go back' because that place i knew is not the same place and it is a part of my growth as a human to return and be a witness to the changes ... are they the changes i fought for? ... i will never know unless i return ... so in a way the return will be a completion and a renewal at the sametime ... there is also a part of me that wants to tour south africa to show the folks what i have achieved as a live performer ... if you can imagine seven djembe players, four didjeridoos, a drummer, the bass player from kings x and all the hooliganism that i bring ... then you can imagine a pagan heaven unlike any other ... so it goes ..."
