The Book Of The Law

When I received the 'Book Of The Law' disc (Chapter Three), I wanted some background on it and surfed the monster. When I was finished doing this, I was pretty confused. So I wrote an email to Robbi:

"i had a look at google.de and amazon.de and many more places .. wherever i find references to liber al or aleister crowley, i also find references to satanic and occult web sites which makes me think that the book of the law is nothing else but satanic and occult."

"so i have a major inner conflict here right now as i have a little rule in my head (satanic and occult things == not my cup of coffee). that is, so far i don't want to get into this kind of music. that's why i need your help .."

Robbi was pretty cool and answered really quickly. Here's what he said:

"There is no relationship between Satanic cults and 'The Book Of The Law'! 'The Book Of The Law' is a very intense Kabbalistic scripture written by Aleister Crowley who was the greatest metaphysician of his time and may still be. The key to the book is 'Love is the Law'.

I don't know much about satanic cults because it has never interested me, and it sound to me that satanic worship is a serious imbalance and a spiritual delusion - if I am wrong I apologize to the satan worshippers. There is no law higher than Love.

The reaction you are having at first is the same reaction Crowley had to it after he channeld the book. He too thought it was evil for many years of his life. It is even said that he still had difficulty with the last chapter just before he died. The language of 'The Book Of The Law' is a mathematical language that is rich in symbolism. It is a book that describes in mystical language the deep movements of the laws of physics and science and the evolution of spriritual psychology. People who know fuck all about the roots of kabbalah and its symbolism and even just plain history of the English language will read this book and misinterepret its symbolism and then judge it as evil.

The word occult for example means "the study of the unseen" or a "study of the hidden forces behind the veil of nature". Is that not what science, physics and metaphysics, and even biology and psychology do? So these are also occult sciences. Satan worship is not an occult science (they might think they are but ... again I apologize if I am wrong).

I will give you another example of how this book can be called evil. 'The Book Of The Law' says 'sacrifice a child'. Okay, to the regular guy this means a very bad thing. But to the learned it means this: The word sacrifice comes from Latin and is made up of two words 'sacre' - 'fice' and it means 'to make sacred'. So what it is saying is 'make sacred the child'. Now we must ask ourselves what is the child that we must make sacred. etc. .. Is a child not a miracle of radiance and innocence and new life - uncorrupted by social conditioning etc? Christians call themselves 'children of God'. Jesus says you must be 'born again', and that you must 'come as a child' and 'lest you come as a child you cannot enter the kingdom of heaven' etc etc. .. So the child is something inside of you that must be awakened and be treated as sacred, it is this part of you that love wants free and un fettered and unadulterated.

Is this an evil idea? So This is how the book must be studied if one needs to understand it. Every single word must be fully understood or else or else their is a danger of wrong interepretation.

The same must be done of all scriptures the bible, the gita, the buddhism, and all the alchemical religions. There are many layers below the words or behind the words. As you know I have made deep studies and practiced in many a religion so as to bring myself closer to a God of Love. Also you know how I love life and the hidden things behind what we see. I love the unseen. Yes, I am an occult scientist and proud of it. But I do not worship satan nor do I care to. I do not worship Crowley. I worship Love and the infinite in all things, Jesus, buddha, krishna, Shiva, Shakti, these are my friends, and Nuit is the mother of us all.

I'm sorry I must go now. Your reaction is a true reaction to this and brings a hearty smile to my face. Please feel free to ask me anything you want to about it.
