Live in Berlin, Germany, 27.05.2006

Text written by Remigiusz Zajdlewicz

Well ... Thanks to the great fortune I was at a TAT concert three years ago. I had been taken by some folks from Konin, Poland: cheers. This time almost all was planned, from the begining to the end. I was going with my girlfriend: Patrycja. For those three years I was dreaming, she can also see the band, she had to listen to almost everyday since we met.

At the beginning some panic. Just a day before the planned concert I got the info that it is confirmed. I was afraid only one thing: TAT was to play before Towers of London and WE, so it could be short as it usually happens. Whatever, I wouldn't omit such an opportunity.

We left at morning. In spite of many menaces to life (Patrycja was driving) we managed to arrive in Berlin. By a hair breath, we entered a party on the other side of the street. Apperance of the crowd gathered there indicated that we almost got at some gothic concert witch we were sure to be ours. Thanks God nice policemen showed us the right direction. Eventually we reached the right place. The man in the door told us we couldn't get into the club before 10 p.m. It was hardly raining so we didn't feel like visiting Berlin at all. At 10 p.m we again came to the Silverwings door, but we had to wait another 15 minutes with some other people. Known as punctual German weren't punctual at all, I thought. Maybe I'm malicious but it wasn't kind to stand there in the rain.

Then only a beer in the hand some walk around the Silverwings and waiting ...

I'm not sure but I think, TAT appeared on stage some time after 11 p.m. Maybe even quite latter. Patrycja came and said that someone starts to play ... I didn't recognize Robbi at first sight. New hairdro made him look a bit younger. But surely Amrita also had her part in that.

So it begun, not sure it was the beginning or the middle of "Bury Me". As soon as I stood in front of the stage, I got into that unusual state like three years ago. Sensational rythmical section and Robbi's voice gave that song unexpected sound. Hard, much more harder than on the record. That mesmerizing climate blending those known from the record sunds with those experimental gave brilliant effect. What to say ... TAT plays the sounds and although the song has over 9 years it developes all the time. It started beautifully. Then "Boy". They couldn't miss that track, nothing more to say. That's the first TAT song I heard. Yes, my adventure with TAT began from Pearls Before Swine and lasts till today. I prayed "Boy" would last forever. That rythm, that bass and that suberb drums. I think that they sounded much better than three years ago and the acoustic was better too, but it's only my opinion. Then they came faster. They played two new (at least for me) tracks, I hope I'll hear them on the next album. If the new record will be like that I'm asking: fuck, when it will be released?? Because I'm addicted. I need it ... and I'm wondering why TAT isn't more popular?? And maybe that's the point?? But they can always count on me. Trans African or Indian rythms ... And Amrita in wild dance .. Does anybody have any questions? Then - an MTV song - "Eloise". This one I had long before releasing "Enchanted entrance". I overdosed it everyday with "Tabla rosa" and "Tunguska". And my girlfriend said "I know that". So years of education weren't wasted!

The finish: "Out of control". Improvisation. To the realms of possibility. Like three years ago, but Robb without dreads :). No words to say ... but equally excellent. While the last sound ended I counted for people's reaction. But this time they allowed the band to leave gently. A bit too short but very intensively. A large piece of amazing music. I still couldn't believe, I was a witness of something I was expecting for years. There are only three bands that hit at the bottom of my mind and TAT is one of them. I was exhausted, and so was Patrycja. The trip and the emotions did that. We couldn't stay any longer in Silverwings. Short nap in car and way back to Poland.

I hope to see TAT live another time this year. Maybe on Woodstock Festival in Poland? If they come, I will be there with Patrycja of course :)
