The appearance at the Cologne "Underground" should be my last experience with this great band. School
in the morning and right after that to the station to arrive in the dark "Biergarten" (German for "beer
garden") of the "Underground" - totally alone between about 150 people. What improvement to awareness of
life! Besides that it was raining cats and dogs - what a day.
But then, a person at a table at the end of the area raised and stood up its chair. Come here,
come here .. sit down my friend
was heard with a lovely African accent. Did I mention anything bad about life?
If so .. life is great! :)
And everyone was there: the band, some nice new people (hey - greetings to Margitta, Mike and Marcus!), two fanatic Italians who followed the Tribe and Doug especially from Milano (!), and even Robbi's girlfriend with a friend of herself .. Could there be better prerequisites for an unforgetable concert?
The starting song was 'Bury Me' followed by the set I mentioned before (read the other concert reviews), enriched with some old stuff I've never heard before - sorry. The crowd went crazy - actually since the first song!
People were singing and dancing around, with open or closed eyes. Besides me Carrie (Robbi's girlfriend) and
some others were clapping on everything they could grap. Drums, bongos, djembes .. even empty coke cans were
used to continue the intens rhythms. When 'I Am Your Heart' flew into the room, Richard nearly passed out on his
chair ..
After this, we discussed a Peter Gabriel song (Biko) which was webbed into the set that night. With a heavy heart I was awaiting my train although I was invited to join the Tribe again the next day in Venlo (Netherlands). But anyway, I had to work .. and the next day was my mother's birthday, too.
And what was saving me and my soul? The thought of meeting them all again ...
